Nevin Markwart

Hi, Nice to meet you! I'm....

Your Saskatchewan Party Candidate for Nomination in Moosomin-Montmartre

Who is Nevin and why I am asking for your vote?

Open Letter to the Constituency

My early childhood taught me a strong work ethic. I grew up in Saskatchewan going to elementary school and playing shinny street hockey outside my family house. Things were tight in those days so vacations, eating out and closets full of clothes were few and far between. I later attended Luther College High School in Regina and played hockey for the Regina Pats. My early childhood experiences provided the life lessons I needed for my love of education and sports to advance and become the foundation for future successes.

I was attending the University of Regina when the Boston Bruins drafted me as their first pick in the 1983 NHL Draft. Next thing I knew, at age 18, I was in the Bruins’ starting lineup at the Boston Garden playing the Montreal Canadians! Over the next 9 years I was mentored by Bobby Orr, Terry O’Reilly and Ray Bourque; I watched, listened and absorbed their world class leadership and responsibility skills. Injury took me out of the game I loved, but the lessons of hockey have stayed with me throughout my life.

I am a big believer in the power of hard work and education. After my hockey career, I got a break and was accepted into Northeastern University’s MBA program even though I had not first gained an undergraduate degree. I focused on finance and general management and graduated with my peers in 1994. From there I went on to become a CEO and built ethical investment organizations and teams that delivered reliable investment returns for clients ranging from young families to the largest pensions plans.

I returned home to Saskatchewan years ago to spend time with my aging parents and operate my businesses. Upon coming home, I found a province on the cusp of exceptional growth but held back by actions of the federal government and the lack of capital investment. I believe my business background positions me to help the Premier unlock the province’s potential. Building on my hockey and business careers, I believe I can be an effective teammate and leader to help our SaskParty government grow Saskatchewan.

But enough about me. Our provincial constituency has been renamed Moosomin-Montmartre and is at the heart of rural living in Saskatchewan.  Our agriculture and mining industries power the provincial economy yet our schools and hospitals are overcrowded and in need of immediate investment.  I will provide the leadership and financial experience to bring together local governments, school boards, and the provincial and federal government to prioritize infrastructure investment across our ENTIRE CONSTITUENCY – not just select areas of the riding. I believe I can be an effective voice for our communities in advocating for additional investments in schools, hospitals, roads and other infrastructure crucial for the continued pursuit of prosperity and happiness in our rural communities.

Please give me the opportunity to use my experience to help move our province forward.

This is why I am asking for your vote on September 10th, 2024.
